EuroPlanning: 5 Steps for a Winning Project

EURO-PLANNING: L’Oma’s First 5 Steps for a Winning Project

There isn’t a field in the society in which Europe hasn’t decided yet to establish funding.

From cinema through agriculture and transport to tourism, European funds make true dreams of many. But not of all, unfortunately: only those who can understand calls and write project proposals.

Not always the project design process must be done independently, indeed especially at the beginning it’s recommended to cooperate and collaborate with other entities (or individuals) who can guide you step by step through a presentation of first proposals.

Planning in the Erasmus+ context, unlike many others, has a huge advantage: the European Commission, after evaluation of the projects, sends to the applicants (if the project has been approved, but also in case not) an evaluation report, consisting of assessments:

  • quantitative: number of points assigned in the various parts of the project, based on the evaluation criteria;
  • qualitative: an objective comment explaining the reason of the scores.

This allows proposal writers, especially those who are characterized by perseverance and determination, to improve their project proposals in anticipation of the next deadline, perhaps even by getting help from partners chosen for the project.

Now, let’s move on to the action and see the first 5 steps to follow in order to create a winning project proposal:

  1. Plan, identifying exactly in which sector you want to propose the project;
  2. Choose the most suitable call to the defined project idea; collect the most important information from the institutional channels and inquire about a possible info-day;
  3. Identify possible international and local, public and private partners. What needs do they have? Can our project idea help them fill these needs?
  4. Prepare a first draft of the project and share it with the partners, asking them to correct and improve it.
  5. Complete the proposal, asking for a review (better if more than one) from other collaborators from your organization.
