L’Orma team have spent two days in Târgu Jiu (Romania) to join the first progress meeting of the project Outdoor Sports in Nature for Skills Development which aims at promoting education in and through outdoor sport with a special focus on skills development, and which involves partners from 5 different countries ( Italy, Spain, Austria, Romania, and the Czech Republic).

Therefore, OSIN4SD aims at engaging sport as one of the ways of being physically active while promoting movement, as it has a great influence on the level of health- enhancing physical activity in the general population. This benefits and social impacts associated with outdoor sports which have been clustered for the project into five broad categories: physical health, mental health and wellbeing, education and lifelong learning, active citizenship and anti-social behavior, as well as additional benefits.

Thus, together with the hosting partner Scout Society, and the representatives of Innovative Education Center, Hodina H, and OrganizacionUsit we have discussed about the ongoing project implementation, the communication strategy, and the work related to the upcoming handbook. The same day in the afternoon, we have had the opportunity to practice some outdoor sports while challenging ourselves by climbing a “Via Ferrata” in the surrounding mountains, always with the guidance of the White Wolf Club youth members and ending with a typical Romanian dinner.

After the work meeting on our next and last day, we have had the opportunity to have a guided walk in the historical center, admiring the traditional architecture and following the path of the international Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, one of the fathers of the modernism movement, which moved to the exciting Paris of the beginning of the XX century (knowing other featured artists such as Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso or André Derain) and who gift a beautiful set of sculptures in the Târgu Jiu Parcs, such as the Endless Column and the Table of Silence.

Thank you all, and stay tuned for the next project steps

In European cooperation, we tend to follow a very familiar sequence. A funding opportunity appears. An idea starts taking shape. Potential partners are identified. A consortium is built. The proposal is submitted. And, if everything goes well, a project begins. There is nothing wrong with this process. It is how thousands of valuable European projects […]
