From the 7th to the 10th of November 2022, the European Commission organized an information session on International Opportunities. The seminar was on Erasmus+ opportunities for exchange and cooperation open to organizations and individuals across the globe.

L’Orma attended the Afternoon sessions on November 10 in order to collect information regarding three specific actions of the Erasmus+ program:

  1. Capacity building for vocational education and training
  2. Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange
  3. Capacity Building projects for youth

Going in order, what do these opportunities consist of?

Capacity Building projects are international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organizations active in the field of VET in EU member states, third countries associated with the Programme, and third countries not associated with the program.

But, what does the acronym VET stand for?

Vocational Education and Training (VET), the new European frontier of education.

As a matter of fact, the European Commission promotes actively and continuously vocational education and training, and the funds made available for the years 2021 to 2027 amount to almost 700 billion euros.

Each project has to select at least 1 thematic area to be eligible between the following ones:

  • Key competencies, including entrepreneurship
  • Skills-matching with job/economic sectors
  • Green and digital skills for the twin transition
  • Work-based learning for young people and/or adults
  • Quality assurance mechanisms
  • VET teachers/trainers’ professional development

Overall, all activities should help to achieve the objectives and contribute to improving VET system and providers.

Some examples of activities are:

  • Networks and exchanges of good practices between VET providers
  • Tools, programs, and other materials to build the capacity of institutions
  • Creating mechanisms to involve the private sector
  • Pedagogical approaches, teaching, and training materials, and methods
  • Exchange activities for staff

This is part of the Erasmus + program, so applicants should take into account at least 1 of the 4 horizontal aspects of the Erasmus+ Programme:

  1. Inclusion and diversity
  2. Environmental sustainability
  3. Digital dimension
  4. Common values, civic engagement, and participation

To what to pay attention to write an application?

There will be another online event on the 7th of December during which the submission process, budget, how to apply, what to take into consideration when applying, what can be difficult, the policy content, etc. will be further discussed and explained.

Always check the website of the European Commission with the list of events related to the Erasmus+ program: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/whats-new/events.
