DESCRIPTION

Environmental challenges have long been a concern across civilizations. However, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that the connection between social and economic progress and environmental protection became widely acknowledged.

Today, environmental issues affect all of us, making sustainability a global priority. The GAIA Consortium believes that sport offers a unique and powerful platform to address sustainability challenges and drive positive change.

By uniting efforts, we can ensure that sports promote environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. Join GAIA in raising awareness and advancing sustainable development within the world of sport. Together, we can make a lasting impact on both our environment and society.

Promoting sustainability in sports is essential. That’s why GAIA is dedicated to empowering Good Governance Officers with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to become champions of sustainable governance in their organizations.

GAIA is building a network of forward-thinking sports organizations committed to sustainability. These organizations are invited to sign the Sustainable Sport Governance Charter, pledging to adapt and enhance their governance models in alignment with our shared values.

We recognize the transformative power of sport and believe it can serve as a catalyst for global change. GAIA is committed to ensuring that sporting activities contribute to environmental stewardship and a more sustainable future.

Join us in making sport a force for good. Together, we can build a greener, more responsible world through the power of sport.
