DESCRIPTION

“Dance for Social Inclusion (DSI)” is an Erasmus+ Sport project dedicated to promoting social inclusion, equity, and equality through dance-based sport activities for teenagers aged 14–19, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project highlights dance as a powerful and universal tool to foster connection, teamwork, and intercultural understanding among youth, while raising awareness about the barriers many young people face in integrating into society.

Through research, training, and local activities, DSI equips coaches and teachers with innovative methods to use dance as a vehicle for inclusion, empowers young participants to express themselves, and engages communities in valuing diversity and teamwork.

Led by a consortium of organisations from Romania, Greece, Spain, and Italy, the project combines the expertise of sports clubs, cultural organisations, and youth trainers to deliver meaningful and lasting impact across Europe.

  • Key Activities
Research and collection of good practices on how dance can foster social inclusion.
  • An international training course in Thessaloniki, Greece, for 20 sport coaches and PE teachers to learn inclusive dance methods.
  • 20 local dance events (5 per partner country), engaging at least 400 young participants from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
  • Creation and dissemination of a Raising Awareness Manual, summarising methods, good practices, and the project’s impact.

Through these activities, DSI not only trains coaches to use dance to break down social barriers but also empowers youth to discover their strengths, build connections, and foster intercultural understanding — demonstrating how sport and art can transform communities.
