We have seen that learning can be influenced above all by the inside-out of our alumns.

This activity helps the class to enter into a system of mutual acceptance and knowledge.

With a simple game, children can talk about themselves by eliminating or at least reducing the fear of judgment.

 

COME, IT WORKS

  1. Students form two concentric circles – students in the inner circle turn their faces out and the other way around.
  2. The teacher asks a question or suggests a topic for discussion. For example Sport.
  3. Each student talks to their partner. This can be done freely or can be guided by the teacher. For example the teacher might ask:
  • What is your favorite sport and why;
  • What color you choose for that sport and why;
  • Tell about your experience in sport;
  • Share your expectation;
  • In your opinion what your parents do about sports;
  • What do you think your sports mates do;
  • What do you think your sports teacher thinks
  1. The partner of the outer circle always answers first and then the partner of the inner circle.
  2. At each answer the outer circle moves one / two / three positions to the right or left. The teacher can choose from time to time how much to move them. In this way the students will try to relate to different classmates.
  3. The teacher can set a fixed time for each question. For example 2 minutes (1 minute each)
  4. When a student is in the role of the listener, he can apply, but not make his own ideas explicit.
  5. At the end of the questions, the class can gather in a single circle and start a moment of discussion on the topic.

The moment of feedback is one of the most important moments. Here the teacher plays a fundamental role, who will have to act as mediator and facilitator. The goal for those who lead is double.

On the one hand it must bring out how each of them has a different experience, a context in which they grow different and this leads to the creation of different thoughts and ideas with respect to a single theme. The teacher can thus guide the children towards understanding different points of view, help them understand diversity and enhance comparison as a tool for growth.

On the other hand, it is an excellent opportunity to listen to the experiences of their students, collect ideas, thoughts and feelings and use them proactively in order to establish an empathic and sincere relationship with each of them.
