The “Paragreen Movement” project aims to promote environmentally conscious practices within the European sports sector, with a specific focus on para-athletes, coaches, trainers, and para-sport organizations. The project responds to the growing environmental impact of sport activities, including high energy and water consumption, transport emissions, and waste production, while also addressing the increasing effects of climate change on sport participation and infrastructure. At the same time, it recognizes a gap in awareness, education, and practical tools for sports professionals on how to integrate sustainability into their daily work. The partnership is built on shared values of inclusion, equal opportunities, and environmental responsibility, bringing together organizations from different European countries with complementary expertise in sport, education, and sustainability.
The main objective of the project is to develop a more sustainable and inclusive para-sport environment by equipping sports professionals and organizations with knowledge, tools, and practical methods for implementing green practices. Through the development of training activities, educational resources, and awareness-raising actions, the project will support capacity building and foster long-term behavioural change across the sector. It will also encourage international cooperation and knowledge exchange between partner organizations, creating a network of stakeholders committed to sustainable para-sport development. Ultimately, the project seeks to increase participation in para-sport activities while simultaneously reducing their environmental footprint and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility across Europe.
